Report: Stafford Rangers 0-5 Farsley Celtic

Farsley showed their clinical edge on Tuesday night as they secured their spot in the semi-finals of the Integro Sport Cup with a 5-0 win at Stafford, writes Mark Rawlinson.

After a slow start to the match from both sides, the Celts bagged the opener on 25 minutes as Stafford sub Peter Williams gifted the ball to Paul Walker, who had the confidence to charge in on goal before burying his finish in the bottom corner.

Then on 39 minutes Walker turned provider as he fed Luke Parkin who rifled home from the left-hand-side to double the advantage.

Adam Lakeland’s side were now on the ascendency and snatched a third just before the break. Chris Atkinson massively miscued his shot but the ball hit Isaac Baldwin who forced a good save from the hosts’ keeper. Parkin then saw his shot blocked on the line but Lewis Turner was on hand to fire in at the third time of asking.

And the visitors started the second half as they finished the first as Dave Syers completed a brilliant team move four minutes after the break, pinging his shot in off the post for 4-0.

The rout was completed a minute from time, as Farsley’s assistant manager Mark Bett rolled back the years with a superb curling effort into the top corner, as the substitute made it 5-0.
