We are delighted to announce that striker Jimmy Spencer has signed a long-term deal with the Celts.
We believe that the deal that we have struck with Jimmy is unique in the semi-professional game as we move into our next chapter of football in the National League North as Jimmy will take on a dual role at the club.
Chairman Paul Barthorpe commented on the deal, “I am very happy to have agreed to this unique long-term deal with Jimmy. Everyone knows his qualities on the pitch.
“He was the Evo-Stik Premier League player of the year this season scoring 20 league goals and he puts in 110% in every match.
“We at the club also get the privilege of seeing another side to Jimmy, he is massively popular in the changing rooms.
“His knowledge and passion of football is fantastic, he is a family orientated man, he has developed a love for this club and this season has proved to be a real asset both on and off the pitch.
“So it is with great pride and delight that not only can we say that Jimmy Spencer will be representing us on the pitch for years to come but also that he is becoming Farsley Celtic’s first-ever Club Ambassador.
“Jimmy’s new role will include assisting the club in our new Academy development and helping us in our support of the local community, being the focal point of our activities at schools, charities, local activities and of course our fans.
“Jimmy’s dedication and passion to not only the sport but to this club, alongside his family and community ethos make him the perfect man for the job, and we are absolutely delighted to have him on board.”
Manager Adam Lakeland is thrilled with the contract extension, as he added: “I’m delighted that Jimmy has committed to the club following what has been an excellent season for him on a personal level. His contribution throughout the campaign has been phenomenal and his overall attitude and application since joining us last summer has been first class.
“It is important for any football club with ambition to retain their best players and Jimmy is certainly one of those. We are moving into a very competitive division next season, but one which I feel my existing group can hold their own in. I hope to announce the retention of the whole squad in the coming weeks.”
