Tom Allan Signs

We are delighted to announce the signing of Tom Allan on a permanent deal for the 2020/21 season.

The versatile defender made 19 appearances for the Celt Army during his two loan spells with the club last season, before also spending time on loan at Scarborough Athletic.

Allan, who joins from York City, also has experience at this level with Alfreton Town, where he made 116 appearances between 2015-2018.

He told FarsleyCeltic.co.uk: “As you know I came on loan here last season and really enjoyed it, it’s a good club, a good family club, and everyone knows each other.

“The changing room with the lads last year was one of the best I’ve been in, and I really enjoyed it, and now I just want to get back to enjoying my football again.”

Adam Lakeland is delighted to have signed the defender, as he added: “I think Tom will be a really good addition for us, obviously somebody that we know well after being here twice on loan last season.

“He did exceptionally well for us in his first spell, chipped in with some goals and put in some really accomplished performances, and then he got called back to York where they had a few injury issues and suspensions.

“When he came back, he didn’t quite hit the same heights, I think it was a case of his momentum getting cut when he was recalled, and he didn’t quite rediscover that same consistency of performances.

“We know what he’s capable of, he’s a great lad first and foremost, fits right in here which is important.”

Lakeland continued: “He’s a big lad, so he gives us a great presence in both boxes, but he’s very accomplished with his feet, technically. He’s got a great left foot on him, which gives us great versatility as a left-sided centre-back in a two or a three, at left-back, and we also used him at wing-back on a number of occasions.

“He gives us really good options, he can chip in with a goal and he’s got a tremendous throw on him which gives us a completely different attribute, so I’m really pleased to have him on board and he’ll certainly strengthen us going into the new season.”

Everyone at Farsley would like to welcome Tom back to the club!
