Joe West Joins the Celt Army
We are delighted to announce the signing of Joe West after his initial spell as a trialist.
The defender joins after leaving Sheffield Wednesday, where he had signed his first professional contract in 2018, earlier this year.
West impressed whilst on trial in games against Tadcaster Albion and Hyde United, and in training, and has now signed for the upcoming season.
He told FarsleyCeltic.co.uk: “I’m very happy (to have signed), it’s been a long few months, obviously with COVID, so I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I’ve been with a few other clubs, just seeing what’s what, but I came in here and really enjoyed it, they’re good lads with a great manager, and I just can’t wait to get going.”
The left-back is looking forward to his first full season in men’s football, as he continued: “I think it’s going to be physically harder, but really I need to take that step up, so I’m going to relish the challenge.”
Adam Lakeland was delighted to get West on board, saying: “It was a priority for us to bring a left-back into the club this summer as we’ve not really been assured in that position with a natural left-back for a couple of seasons now, so it was important that we got somebody in.
“We’ve had Joe and a couple of others in during pre-season, but in this last week Joe’s done incredibly well, he was very good at Tadcaster on Tuesday in the first half, and I thought he did well again at Hyde on Saturday in the second half.
“He’s got a really good attitude, good energy levels, he’s competitive, good distribution, and he’s got a good delivery when he gets over the halfway line.
“There was interest in him from other clubs, but he was really eager to come here and that’s always important. You want players to come to your football club because they believe in what you’re doing, what you’re about and what you stand for.
“He’s a player with great potential and we look forward to him now getting in and joining us, and hopefully kicking on and having a great season for us.”
Everyone at Farsley would like to wish Joe a warm welcome to the club!
