Eliot Goldthorp and Carl Johnston Join the Celt Army

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Eliot Goldthorp and Carl Johnston ahead of today’s trip to Curzon Ashton.

Eliot Goldthorp joins after being released by Bradford City in the summer where he made two EFL Trophy appearances, including scoring the winning penalty over Everton U21s.

The young midfielder spent time on trial at Sunderland earlier this year, and also has experience in non-league football having played on loan at Mossley, Radcliffe and Matlock Town in the 2019-20 season.

Also signing for the club is midfielder Carl Johnston, who has joined on a four-week youth loan from League One side Fleetwood Town.

Johnston, who has featured for Northern Ireland at U17 level, spent seven years in Linfield’s academy before moving to Fleetwood in 2018.

He signed his first professional contract with the Fishermen in January, and in June was named in the League Football Education’s ‘The 11’, which acknowledges the achievements of U18s players both on and off the pitch.

Both could go straight into the squad for today’s National League North game.

We would like to wish a warm welcome to Eliot and Carl, and hope they enjoy their time at the club!
