Farsley Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Adam Barton, subject to international clearance.
Barton began his career at Preston North End and has since spent time with Coventry City, Portsmouth, Partick Thistle and Dundee United.
The 29-year-old was most recently at Vanarama National League side Wrexham, from which he departed in early 2020.
Adam Lakeland commented on the capture of Barton’s signature, saying: “I’m delighted that we’ve managed to get Adam on board, he’s a player that I’ve known since he was a young lad, and I’ve always kept tabs on his career.
“He’s had a very good career, played for some big clubs, but he’s still got a lot to offer, he only turns 30 in January.
“His experience, his qualities, his presence and his stature will make him a very good addition to our group and our squad.
“He can play at centre-back in any of the three positions, he can play central midfield and he brings a calmness when in possession, he’s got real composure and quality in possession of the ball and excellent distribution.
“He’s also a real aerial threat, he’s a big lad, so he’ll be an extra presence for us in both boxes and that’ll only further strengthen our qualities from set plays.
“We’re really delighted to have him on board, because he’s a good lad, and he showed a great attitude and enthusiasm to come and join us.
“There were other clubs that were interested in taking him and he could have gone elsewhere for more money, but he’s bought into how we try and do things at Farsley, and he came in a couple of times and enjoyed his experience at the club, enjoyed the group of lads and enjoyed training.
“He was keen to come and join us and we’re delighted, he’ll only make us stronger that’s for sure.”
Everyone at the club would like to welcome Adam to Farsley, and wish him all the best during his stay at the Citadel.
