Jordan Richards Signs for Next Season
We are delighted to announce that Jordan Richards has signed a contract extension to remain with the club for the 2021/22 season.
The right-back joined the Celt Army in 2019 from Southport, and has been an integral part of the squad in our two seasons in the National League North, making 64 appearances and chipping in with three goals.
After signing his new deal, Richards said: “I’ve enjoyed my time at the club from the minute I came through the door, I enjoy working under the gaffer and the staff, and I get along with all the lads.
“We’ve got a good group of lads who I think can kick on next season, the two seasons I have been here have been cut short which is unfortunate, but I think both seasons we’ve always been in with an outside chance of scraping in the play-offs.
“Both seasons I’ve been here I think we’ve been favourites to go down. I don’t think we need to prove anyone wrong in the sense we know what we’re capable of, but it’s always nice to prove people wrong.
“It’s nice to upset the so-called big teams, and go to places like York, Spennymoor, Fylde and Boston, and really give them a game. Some times we come up short, but I think we can really challenge them next year and sneak in the playoffs.
“We’ve got to come back pre-season ready to go and ready to kick on. I think we’ve got a good squad and I think if we can add a couple more with real quality we can be there or thereabouts in the playoffs. I’m not saying we’re going to go and win the league, but I certainly think that we can upset some people and really push for a play-off position.”
Adam Lakeland commented: “It’s great that Jordan will be staying with us next season, he’s been an ever-present in the team since he joined us from Southport, and he’s been a very consistent performer from us in the main.
“He’s a great lad, a good character, and he didn’t hesitate when we spoke with him about remaining with us.
“Hopefully he can go on and have a better season next season than maybe what he did this season because I know at times both him and I felt there was more to come from him, and I’m sure with his attitude, application and mentality he can kick on again next season for us.”
