We are delighted to announce that midfielder Chris Atkinson has signed a two-year contract extension to remain with the club until 2023.
Since initially joining on loan from Salford City in 2017, Atkinson has been involved in our two promotion successes and has made 188 appearances for the club, the fifth-highest since we reformed.
After signing his extension, Atkinson commented: “I’m delighted to have signed for the next two years.
“I love it here at Farsley, and I love playing under the management team. It’s the best set of lads I’ve ever played with, so it was an easy decision to make.
“Last season we didn’t have the strongest of starts, but we turned that around quickly which I knew was always going to be the case with the characters and winners we have in our squad!
“We kicked on from there and we were in with a chance of making the playoffs when the season was cut short, which wasn’t so bad saying we favourites to go down!
“On a personal level I was fairly pleased with my performance levels, I always give my all for the club in every game I play, and I just do what I can to help the team.
“Looking ahead to next season, we will be aiming for the playoffs. The last two seasons have been cut short and we were in with a real chance in both.
“On our day we can beat anyone in this league, so we will take it game by game and see where we end up at the end of the season.”
Adam Lakeland was delighted to retain the midfielder, as he added: “It’s great news that Chris has signed on for the next two seasons with us, he’s been an ever-present in the team ever since I arrived at the club.
“He’s delivered a very consistent level of performances throughout that time, and in the process has become one of the highest appearance makers in the history of the club.
“Chris is a great lad, and I know what I’m going to get from him week in, week out. He may not always be the most glamorous on the pitch, but the role that he partakes within the team is one that we greatly value, and it’s fantastic he’ll be remaining with us.
“He’s another player who could have had his head turned by another local rival in the league below, but we’re glad that he’s stayed, and I look forward to working with him next season.”
