We are delighted to announce that club captain Danny Ellis has re-signed with the club for the upcoming season.
The centre-half, who has at times successfully filled in as an emergency striker, has made 132 appearances since joining from Harrogate Town in 2017, and captained the club to the NPL Premier Division title in 2018/19.
After signing for the 2021/22 season, Ellis said: “It was an easy decision to make to re-sign, it’s a great club and I’ve really enjoyed playing here for the last four years.
“We are a very close team on and off the field and I’m delighted to have re-signed for another season.
“I felt last season was obviously a bit strange with the pandemic and having no fans, and we had a really tough start to the season, even though I felt like we had been playing well. Then we went on a great run, playing really well, and I felt we had a real chance of getting into the playoffs before the season was cut short.
“Next season we want to try and gain more points in the league from last season, which is always an aim for us.
“It would also be nice to have a good run in the FA Cup, something most clubs at our level want to do, and it would be great to try and draw a big club, something which would be great for everyone at Farsley.”
Adam Lakeland added: “It’s great that we’ve managed to secure Danny’s services for another season, he’s been a fantastic servant for this club and our squad since he arrived.
“Whilst he struggled with injuries last season, which resulted in him missing quite a large portion of the fixtures that we played, in the games that he was on the pitch, his performances were in the main very solid.
“Whilst he’s obviously not getting any younger and he’s coming towards the latter stages of his career, we still feel that he can put big performances in for us when he’s on the pitch.
“He leads by example both on and off the pitch, and he’s held in high regard by everybody associated with Farsley Celtic, so for us to have him as a member of our group for next season is fantastic.”
