We are delighted to announce that Adam Clayton has signed a new contract to remain with the club for the 2021/22 season.

The defender first joined Farsley in 2015 and will be entering his seventh season at the Citadel, in which time he has become the club’s highest appearance maker.

After signing his new contract, Clayton said: “It wasn’t really a decision I had to make, as long as the club wants me to play for them then that’s what I’ll do.

“Looking back to last season, as a few others have said the season started out really tough, and although we played well we didn’t pick up many points.

“However, we soon got some momentum going and ended up in the right half of the league with a chance to push on into the playoffs, so it’s just a shame the season had to be cut short again.

“The goal now, as it always is for me, is to get into the playoffs, I think that’s what every player and club as a whole should be aiming for, so hopefully we get a chance to complete a season and do that this year.”

Adam Lakeland added: “Clayts has been a very consistent performer for us in the time I’ve been at the club, and beyond that time as well. That was obviously recognised last season when he became the club’s leading appearance maker, which is a fantastic individual achievement for him.

“I feel he’s got fitter and fitter each season we’ve been at the club, and I think that will enable him to continue playing at a high level for another few seasons at least, and we’re really glad that he’s going to remain a part of the group and the club for next season.”
