Preview: Eccleshill United vs Farsley Celtic (10/07/2021)

Preparations for the 2021/22 season continue tomorrow with a return to action against Eccleshill United.

176 days since the last game in a season that came to an abrupt end, Adam Lakeland’s side will return to action at the Mitton Group Stadium on Saturday.

Farsley Celtic:
For the fifth straight year, the Celts will pay NCEL Premier Division side Eccleshill United a visit, with this fixture providing Farsley fans with an opportunity to see some new (and not so new!) faces in action for the first time.

New signings Sam Walker and Ben Mckenna should both make a first appearance for Farsley, whilst for many, this will be the first chance to take a look at Adam Barton, Joel Byrom and Sam Kelly in person.

Following this fixture, Adam Lakeland’s side travels to Thackley on Tuesday evening, before entertaining Scunthorpe United next weekend. You can purchase tickets for the latter game HERE.

Eccleshill United:
Eccleshill’s pre-season campaign got underway over a week ago, and the early returns have been promising for Lee Elam’s side.

First up, Northern Premier League Division One East side Yorkshire Amateurs were defeated 3-1, before Saturday saw a 4-3 defeat of Ilkley Town.

The Eagles, who sat 11th in their division when the 2020/21 season was curtailed, have added to their squad by bringing back former Farsley midfielder Andy Cooper, who spent four years at Eccleshill in his first spell at the club.
