Preview: Hereford FC vs Farsley Celtic (14/08/2021)

The 2021/22 Vanarama National League North season gets underway tomorrow, with the Celts making the long trip to Hereford.

For those supporters also making the trip, you can purchase tickets online HERE.

Form guide:
Farsley Celtic – Farsley’s pre-season came to a close last weekend with a 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town U23s, a friendly arranged at short notice after Hyde United were unable to travel. That was the only defeat the Celts suffered in pre-season, with the most notable result a 0-0 draw with National League side Halifax Town.

Last five games (pre-season): WDWDL

Hereford – Wins have been relatively difficult to come by in pre-season for the Bulls, with victories over Westfields and Hednesford Town their only successes. Of course, wins are of little importance in pre-season, and Josh Gowling’s men will be looking to hit the ground running this weekend.

Last five games (pre-season): DLDWL

Team news:
Farsley Celtic – Adam Lakeland should have a full squad to call on as the new season kicks off, with Ben McKenna, James Hanson, Sam Walker, Tom Donaghy and Will Longbottom all expected to be involved in a competitive matchday squad for the first time.

Hereford – There are no fresh injury concerns for the hosts, however new signings Miles Storey and James Vincent are unavailable as they await international clearance.

Last meeting:
Farsley Celtic 1-2 Hereford (Saturday 7th March 2020)
The last time these two clubs met came just before the 2019/20 season was brought to a premature conclusion, with Hereford emerging victorious from the Citadel.

The Bulls were in front within five minutes as Tom Owen-Evans volleyed home, before doubling their advantage midway through the second half when Lenell John-Lewis teed up Kelsey Mooney.

A superb free-kick from Will Hayhurst with 15 minutes remaining halved the deficit to give Farsley hope, but the visitors held on to secure all three points.
