Farsley Celtic – Luke Parkin struck in the 87th minute on Saturday to earn Farsley a 1-1 draw with Kettering Town, and maintain the Celts’ unbeaten start to the season.
The draw with Kettering followed an opening day victory over Hereford (1-0) and a draw with Chester (2-2), with five points from three games enough for 6th in the division.
Last five games: WDD
Blyth Spartans – Like Farsley, Blyth have made an impressive start to the new season, picking up two wins in their opening three games.
Victories over Alfreton Town (2-0) and AFC Telford United (2-0) at Croft Park came either side of a 3-0 defeat away to Kidderminster Harriers, so the Spartans will be heading to the Citadel in search of their first road points of the season.
Last five games: WLW
Farsley Celtic – Joel Byrom and Sam Walker are both out due to injuries sustained in last week’s draw with Chester, whilst Dave Syers serves the final game of his suspension. Sam Bird will be available after joining on loan from Fleetwood Town.
Blyth Spartans – Blyth have no apparent injury concerns.
Blyth Spartans 1-1 Farsley Celtic (Tuesday 10th November 2020)
The only meeting between Farsley and Blyth last season saw a last-minute equaliser from the hosts deny Farsley the victory.
Farsley deservedly made the breakthrough shortly before the half-hour mark, a well-worked move resulting in Jimmy Spencer’s cross dropping to Ashley Smith-Brown, who drove a half-volley back across goal into the bottom corner.
But as the game headed into added time at the end of the 90 minutes the hosts struck to earn a point, as Paul Blackett beat the offside trap, rounded Steven Drench and tapped home into the empty goal.
