Ben Blythe Joins the Celts on Loan

Left-sided youngster arrives on one month loan.

Adam Lakeland has added a defender to the ranks ahead of Saturday’s game with Alfreton Town. With injury problems at the back, the gaffer has moved quickly to add to the ranks. Blythe is in the final year of his apprenticeship with the South Yorkshire side and joins on an initial one-month loan spell.

Lakeland commented, “We’ve been looking to get a natural left-sided centre back in for several weeks, so I’m delighted that Ben has joined us and thank Doncaster for allowing him to join us for a month initially.

“He comes with excellent references and has a fantastic attitude and desire to come here, work hard and play at a competitive level of football.

“We have had some excellent young players on loan in past seasons who have come in and done incredibly well for us and have returned to their parent club’s better players from their experience with us and I’m hoping the same will be the case with Ben.”

Blythe is looking forward to getting started and getting some games under his belt, saying: “I can’t wait to get started and meet everyone and play men’s football which is what I’ll be looking to get out of my loan here.

“I like to think of myself as a ball-playing centre back and love getting on the ball whether there is someone pressing or not, and I want to be able to add these qualities to the team here at Farsley.

“The manager at Doncaster saw the move as a great opportunity to prove I can handle men’s football and it will help my development.

“This year I’ve struggled for games and have only played in the Carabao Cup against Stoke, which was a great experience, but I want to experience more game time and I believe I can do that here.”

All at Farsley Celtic would like to welcome Ben to the club.
